Show Your Wings!!!


Have you ever thought about the life of a butterfly? I mean really thought about the changes that it goes through to become the beautiful creature that we love to see? Well if you haven’t, let me explain to you the things that I have observed about this creature that I completely adore.

Starting out as a caterpillar, the butterfly starts life rough. Crawling around, feeling its way to food, trying to avoid being prey to birds, and on top of that they are UGLY. After ducking and dodging the issues of life a metamorphosis occurs. The caterpillar goes inside a cocoon, defined as the silky covering with which a caterpillar encloses itself during its transition to an adult state. This cocoon protects the caterpillar for an extended period of time from the birds and the elements as it reaches its full potential. After this metamorphosis occurs the caterpillar is now a butterfly. Here’s the kicker, before the butterfly can spread its wings it most struggle to break free from the cocoon, the very thing that has been protecting it! After the struggle, it breaks free and is able to face the obstacles of its life better prepared and stronger. Showing its beautiful wings off to the world.

I know you are now wondering what does this have to do with you, right? The answer is EVERYTHING!!!



We too are like butterflies. When we are lost, our lives mimic the stage of the caterpillar. We crawl around, feeling our way through life, ugly on the inside, until we reach a breaking point when we realize a change is needed. Anything could be the breaking point. Did you lose that significant that said they would be there forever? Did you realize your friends aren’t really your friends? Did you finally realize that blood isn’t always thicker than water? Or did just get tired of partying every night? Whatever the case maybe, you saw that change was needed. You turn to the LORD, he wraps you in your cocoon and your metamorphosis begins.

GOD may send you a role model, give you a bible scripture, find you a new church family, or give you a joyous song to sing. This is you weaving your cocoon. Once inside the cocoon, under his protection, your metamorphosis is in full swing. During this time God is taking away ALL OF THE BAD! He is blocking your from everything! Bills seem to disappear; negative people are no longer a part of your life. During this time you are figuring out your morals and values. Your time in the cocoon is left up to ONLY HIM to decide. For some of us it is weeks, others months or years. However long, change is happening!!!!

Once your metamorphosis is complete, GOD places a struggle in your life to test and see if you can keep your FAITH IN HIM!! Like the butterfly, you must also struggle to be stronger and better prepared to face life’s many obstacles. Once you are free you must SHOW YOUR WINGS!!!!! Be a witness to all the good he has done for you and share your blessings with other!!
